(November 4, 2021) – Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA) President and CEO Charles Harris has been honored with a 2021 Catalyst Award in the Momentum category from meetings industry publication Smart Meetings. The Catalyst Awards recognize suppliers in the industry who not only help meetings and event professionals create meaningful experiences, but also improve the perception and economy of their business and the industry. Harris was nominated due to his response to those in need during the recent wildfires in the region and the unwavering momentum the destination has had during the pandemic.

Reno Tahoe reported a strong summer season, resulting in record revenues stemming from successes surrounding a strong leisure market and a rebounding meetings sector. Reno Tahoe began the 2021-2022 fiscal year with its highest month of Taxable Room Revenue ever, when the destination’s lodging and room tax statistics recorded a total of $53,859,311 for the month of July 2021. Three of the top five revenue producing months in Reno Tahoe occurred in 2021, with June and August also being in the top five all-time.
