RENO, Nev. (December 27, 2024) – The Reno Holiday Invite, the first event in a new series of indoor track and field meets, will take place this weekend, Dec. 28-29, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center’s state-of-the-art indoor track facility. Open to youth and adult competitors, the event marks the return of indoor track and field meets to the region, a collaboration between Reno Tahoe and USATF Pacific, the largest association in the governing body of track and field, USA Track & Field (USATF).
This meet series represents a new chapter in Reno’s rich track and field history. USATF Pacific previously hosted elite indoor meets in Reno during the mid-1990s, attracting top athletes from around the nation. The series’ inaugural event will feature high-energy competition across a range of disciplines, with seasoned athletes and newcomers taking to the track.
About the Meet Series:
The Reno Holiday Invite is the first of three meets planned for the winter season:
  • Reno Holiday Invite: Dec. 28-29 (youth and adult competitors)
  • USATF Pacific 2025 Indoor Championships: Feb. 1-2 (high school and adult competitors)
  • Reno Presidents’ Invite: Feb. 15-17 (youth and adult competitors)
USATF Pacific’s Executive Director, John Mansoor, who directed the 1995 and 1996 Reno meets, returns as an Assistant Director for this series alongside Meet Director Donnie Nelson, Reno Tahoe’s Track & Field Specialist.
This series strengthens Reno Tahoe’s position as a hub for competitive athletics, drawing participants and spectators from across the West. With Nevada’s only indoor track certified for elite-level competition, the region is set to become a premier destination for track and field events.
Spectators are encouraged to experience the excitement of track and field at this world-class venue. Tickets are $5 per day, and parking is $10.
