RENO, Nev. (February 11, 2025) – USA Taekwondo announced today that more than 2,100 competitors and 500 coaches from 75 countries will take part in the 2025 U.S. Open Championships this Friday through Sunday, February 14-16 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
“The U.S. Open Championships draws elite international and domestic athletes, including Olympians, World Champions, and National Team athletes worldwide,” said Christine Strong Simmons, USA Taekwondo Managing Director. “Athletes are travelling worldwide to compete at this prestigious event.”
Competition begins Friday with Poomsae, where competitors will demonstrate a sequence of refined techniques linked together to form a specific pattern of defending and attacking movements. “It’s exciting to bring the U.S. Open Championships back to Reno Tahoe for the second year in a row,” said Reno Tahoe President and CEO Mike Larragueta. “This is also a great opportunity for local athletes to watch some of the best practitioners in the country compete here at home in the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.”
