RENO, Nev. (December 8, 2021) – Visit Reno Tahoe has opened the application window for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Special Event Partnership Funding program, and will accept submissions until 2:00 p.m. PST on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
“Special events are integral to the success of Northern Nevada’s tourism economy,” said Visit Reno Tahoe President and CEO Charles Harris. “The special event partnership funding program has helped build and sustain events for the last 15 years, supporting jobs and driving revenue for local businesses and the community. It is our hope to continue cultivating the growth of existing and emerging events for many years to come.”
Qualifying events occurring between July 2022 and June 2023 can now submit an application on the Visit Reno Tahoe Special Event Partnership Funding website. The Special Events Partnership Funding program is intended for annual events which aim to draw attendees from outside the Reno Tahoe area. Events primarily use these funds to generate additional visitation and exposure for Northern Nevada by executing advertising campaigns and various marketing programs. To qualify for partnership funding, events must exhibit a propensity to positively impact the community by generating room nights at Washoe County hotels, growing destination awareness and inspiring repeat visitation.
The FY 2021-22 Special Event Partnership Funding program allocates $433,500 to 29 events and maintains $66,500 in a marketing opportunity fund to potentially support new events or special programs that may arise during the current fiscal year. Visit Reno Tahoe has awarded more than $4.6 million to regional special events, since the program was formalized in 2007. The FY 2022-2023 program is currently budgeted for $500,000.
Applying events must provide supplemental materials detailing requested dollar amounts and specific usage, new initiatives that would be supported by potential funding, room blocks at a minimum of two major lodging properties in Washoe County, and other information outlined on the partnership funding website.
