RENO, Nev. (February 16, 2023) – Reno Tahoe staff actively engages in volunteering efforts, interactive donation opportunities, in-kind donations and partnerships, and regional information-sharing campaigns to support the local community, as well as governmental and nonprofit partners.
“Reno Tahoe’s role in supporting the sustainable growth of Northern Nevada begins by serving as a good community partner,” said Reno Tahoe President and CEO Charles Harris. “It is our hope to continue cultivating our community, building and sustaining special events, and maintaining momentum through collaboration.”
Reno Tahoe invited families and bowlers of all abilities to enjoy a championship bowling experience while supporting local organizations during Bowling Day in the USA, February 11th at the National Bowling Stadium. The initiative welcomes bowling centers to host events designed to unite communities through the sport of bowling. During the event, Reno Tahoe raised $1500 for Special Olympics Nevada and collected two barrels of non-perishable, canned goods which were donated to Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
The Reno Tahoe sales team regularly encourages interactive nonprofit donation opportunities during out-of-market tradeshow events. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northern Nevada, Paws 4 Passengers, Nevada Humane Society, Our Center, and The Center for Adaptive Riding are all beneficiaries of recent promotional activities at tourism industry events across the country. In addition, the Reno Tahoe team recently volunteered at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada distribution center, packing 392 boxes of meals to support the local fight against hunger.
In a joint effort with the City of Reno, Washoe County and Reno Tahoe, the Reno-Sparks Convention Center served as an evacuation center for wildfire evacuees and a warming center for Northern Nevada residents impacted by heavy snowstorms and winter weather conditions in January. Reno Tahoe collected resources to assist both visitors and locals through social channels and VisitRenoTahoe.com, including discounted hotel rooms, information regarding road closures, and ways to give back to those in need.
As a proud sponsor of Tourism Cares with North Lake Tahoe, members of the Reno Tahoe team attended and volunteered at the Meaningful Travel Summit. Tourism Cares with North Lake Tahoe focused on climate change, conservation of natural resources and the critical role sustainability plays for a tourism destination. Reno Tahoe is also a major contributor to the TART Connect sustainability project, and is a member of the Lake Tahoe Stewardship Partnership, working to preserve the Lake Tahoe Basin for residents and future visitors.

Reno Tahoe is proud to support the growth of existing and emerging events in Northern Nevada through the Special Event Marketing Sponsorship program. The program is intended for annual events which aim to attract attendees from outside the Reno Tahoe area. Events primarily use these funds to generate additional visitation and exposure for Northern Nevada by executing advertising campaigns and various marketing programs. Reno Tahoe has awarded more than $5.1 million to regional special events, since the program was formalized in 2007. During Fiscal Year 2022-23, the program allocated $500,000 to 35 events:
